Grace & Frankie: 10 Times Grace & Frankie Probably Should Have Gone To Jail

Jane Fonda has made headlines for her reoccurring protests which advocate for climate change policies. Several of her Grace and Frankie co-stars, including Lily Tomlin, have joined her in these protests which have often ended in arrest. In real life, these arrests are noble as these celebrities fight for positive change.

These actresses are known for portraying the titular characters on the show Grace and Frankie. These quirky characters often get themselves into hilariously complex situations. Many of these situations aren’t exactly legal. In fact, many of the situations could result in Grace and Frankie being arrested. Let’s take a look at these ten times that Grace and Frankie’s choices could have landed them in jail.

10 Drug Consumption

Frankie regularly consumes a number of drugs. Some of these drugs are unnamed while others such as weed, are fairly obvious. Frankie even consumes peyote, which Grace accidentally consumes while spending time with Frankie. These drugs are illegal for recreational use and could land Grace and Frankie in a lot of legal trouble.

Grace is also a functioning alcoholic. Her abuse of the substance often leads to her acting erratically in public and her disorderly conduct while under the influence certainly could have landed her in jail on more than one occasion.

9 Reckless Driving

Driving is not Frankie’s strong suit. Her driving is often reckless and even results in her being pulled over by a cop. When she hands him her license, he discovers that it has been expired for a number of years, 3 to be exact. This leads to Frankie attempting to take a road test which proves to be extremely difficult for her as she continuously fails. Frankie is incredibly lucky that her driving and lack of a license didn’t land her in prison for the night.

8 Stealing From Convenience Store

After Grace and Frankie learn their husbands have been cheating on them, they are distraught. This pain eventually bonds the two as they are forced to live under the same roof and can relate to one another. The two decide to take a trip to a convenience store to purchase a pack of cigarettes.

When they get there, they find that they are being ignored by the store clerks as they attempt to check out. After spending a considerable amount of time trying to get their attention, Frankie decides to steal the cigarettes from the store instead of purchasing them.

7 Stealing A Golf Cart

When Grace and Frankie’s children trick them into moving into an assisted living facility, they are furious. After spending some time there, the two decide that they have had enough. They decide to break out of the facility and return to their beach house.

In true Grace and Frankie style, they do this by stealing a golf cart and driving off of the property. It’s unclear if they were ever forced to return the vehicle, but driving off with a golf cart is certainly enough to get these forceful women arrested.

6 Stalking Phil

When Grace tells Frankie about her past with a contractor named Phil, Frankie is determined to track him down. She finds him online and together, they decide to drive past his house and watch him from afar. The pair aren’t as discreet as they believe and it immediately becomes obvious that they are watching Phil.

Luckily, Phil is happy to see Grace and they reconnect as he welcomes her. However, this easily could have gone differently if Phil was disturbed by the efforts Grace and Frankie had taken to track him down and stalk him.

5 Transporting Illegal Merchandise

In a bizarre turn of events, Grace and Frankie accidentally leave their Rise Up prototype on the side of the road. It is then collected by a woman who lives nearby and seemingly used as a planter in front of her house. Grace and Frankie return to the house, attempting to convince the homeowner to return their product but she refuses.

Feeling they have no other choice, they return to the house late at night and steal the prototype from her porch. Little do they know, the woman was using the toilet to conceal illegal sim cards, leaving Grace and Frankie in possession of illegal merchandise.

4 Taking Faith To The Mexican Border

While caring for Faith, Frankie decided to drive around town following an ice cream truck. She quickly lost awareness of her surroundings and had no idea where she was.

With a dead cell phone and no sense of direction, Frankie continued to drive around aimlessly while Bud worried about her daughter’s whereabouts. Frankie eventually ended up at the Mexican Border, almost illegally taking Faith out of the country.

3 Breaking Into The Beach House

When Grace and Frankie return to the beach house after escaping the assisted living facility, they return to the beach house. When they get there, they discover that the house has been sold. While this frustrates the pair, it does not deter them. They decide to break into the house and refuse to leave, even when the new owner’s decorators arrive.

2 Keeping Nick's Couch Money

Grace spends much of the 6th season complaining about Nick’s couch. Despite multiple promises to get a new house, he keeps the old couch in the house. When Nick is arrested for tax evasion, Grace is shocked as he is hauled away in handcuffs.

When her and Frankie sit down on the couch, they discover that Nick has stashed money inside of the sofa. It seems clear that these two do not intend to turn this money over to the police. If caught, this could have huge legal implications for Grace and Frankie.

1 Frankie Fakes Her Death

On a trip to the post office, Frankie tries to hide and disguise herself from others in the post office. This leads her to tell the people working at the post office that Frankie Bergstein is dead, identifying herself as the child of the deceased.

The post office then notifies the social security office and Frankie is declared legally dead. This proves to be a difficult legal situation to navigate and Frankie could face serious repercussions for lying.
