Daredevil Proves He's As Skilled As A Jedi Knight | Screen Rant

This article contains spoilers for Daredevil #20

Daredevil's skills can match those of any Jedi Knight from Star Wars - and possibly even exceed them. This week's Daredevil #20 is the culmination of a story that's been months in the telling. The Man Without Fear has finally reclaimed his cowl, and stepped up once again in defense of Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately, the issue also sees Daredevil face his greatest challenge to date.

Two crime lords have sent a squadron of super-villains to Hell's Kitchen, on a terrifying mission. The Stromwyn twins want Hell's Kitchen leveled, so they can redevelop it in their own image. With Hell's Kitchen burning, it falls to an unlikely team to defend it; Daredevil finds himself allying with Kingpin and Typhoid Mary, the last people he'd expected to be on his side. But even they aren't enough, and ultimately it all rests upon Daredevil's shoulders. Fortunately, the Man Without Fear is up to the task.

The climax of the battle sees Daredevil face off against Bullseye, and he demonstrates his skills and instincts with greater potency than ever before. Daredevil extends his hyper-senses, watching everything around him, carefully orchestrating his enemies' every position. His greatest advantage is, curiously enough, Bullseye; Daredevil pulls a stunt worthy of any Jedi as he uses his batons to deflect Bullseye's bullets, even swatting them at his other foes. Finally, Bullseye and Daredevil are the last two standing, and Bullseye cuts loose with every shot he can fire. Incredibly, Daredevil blocks every single bullet, leaving Bullseye reeling.

This is the kind of stunt usually seen in Star Wars, where Jedi swat aside blaster bolts. The Jedi, however, have an advantage not available to Daredevil; as revealed in Timothy Zahn's novel Thrawn: Alliances, they are able to do this because they have a degree of precognition. There's a split-second in which a Jedi sees both present reality and future threat; this glimpse of the future allows a Jedi to move their lightsaber in position to block a blaster bolt, or to move with preternaturally fast reflexes when facing a physical attack.

Daredevil does not have precognition. He simply has incredibly potent senses, which he has learned to trust on an instinctive level. In this case, it seems Daredevil is helped by Bullseye's marksmanship, because he knows the assassin-for-hire will always go for a kill shot. There will be no stray bullets, no wild shots, but instead every bullet will be an attempted kill - mostly head shots. Thus Daredevil can tighten his defense, moving his batons with precision, trusting in his instincts to keep himself alive. He pulls it off, leaving Bullseye horrified at how resoundingly he has been beaten, and proving he is frankly far more impressive than any Jedi.
