DCEU Superman & Wonder Woman Recreate Classic Comic Kiss In Fan Art

A DC fan recreated an iconic moment from the Justice League comics in a piece of fan art that sees DCEU's Superman and Wonder Woman kiss. In the DCEU, the two superheroes don't have a romantic connection. Still, this piece of fan art reimagines them as lovers, in a call back to a famous panel from a 2012 Justice League comic drawn by DC's Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee.

The recent news about the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League cut made a lot of fans happy, and as a result, they're focusing once again on the possibilities for the DC Extended Universe. In the films released in the DCEU so far, Henry Cavill played Superman, and Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman. They first crossed paths in 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, before teaming up in Justice League following Superman's resurrection. But they've never been romantically involved.

However, digital artist Yadvender Singh Rana reimagined the pair as lovers in a piece posted to his Instagram. His latest piece of fan art recreates Lee's artwork with stunning accuracy, but places Cavill's Superman and Gadot's Wonder Woman in the frame instead of their hand-drawn counterparts. Rana says he decided to recreate the image as "practice," but it also clearly serves as a piece of fantasy storytelling, imagining what it might look like if the DCEU's superheroes decided to get together. You can see the art below:

Cavill appeared as Superman in three films, 2012's Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League. Gadot also appeared in three DCEU films, including Batman V Superman and Justice League. She also starred in 2017's Wonder Woman and will return in Wonder Woman 1984, which is currently due to be released in August, though it may be pushed back to December.

While Rana's fan art is nothing but pure fantasy, it's fun to imagine what a Superman/Wonder Woman romance could look like in the films. Both superheroes come from strange and alien civilizations, compared to the world they currently find themselves in, and it makes sense they might find common ground.

With renewed enthusiasm for the DCEU, both from the executives who greenlit the release of the Snyder Cut, as well as the fans who campaigned so vehemently for its release, the possibility of a romance involved remains viable. We'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few years before we get too excited, though.
