Manifest: 10 Things To Expect From Season 3 | ScreenRant

The second season of Manifest concluded with an explosive finale. As many of the season's storylines converged, faith was tested and lives were put on the line. There was a good deal of resolution, but there were also plenty of cliffhangers to keep fans eager and guessing as they wait for the next season.

Fortunately, showrunner Jeff Rake participated in interviews with EW and TV Line where he teased some of the major developments that fans can expect in season 3. Here are 10 things to expect from season 3 of ManifestWarning: Spoilers ahead for season 2 of Manifest.

10 The Shadows Will Return

For several episodes, Cal was haunted by a Calling featuring three ominous shadows. The shadows were revealed to be three meth dealers. Michaela arrested them despite the Callings telling her to let them go. When the dealers escaped imprisonment, they kidnapped Cal as retribution against Michaela.

At first, it seemed like all three of them drowned beneath the ice during the season 2 finale, but fans know better by the end of the episode when it was revealed that no bodies were found. The showrunner promised these characters will return in a big way that will have significant mythological implications for the show. Perhaps they will travel through time just as Zeke and the passengers of Flight 828 have, albeit with a much different and game-changing experience.

9 The World Will Fear The Passengers Again

The season 2 finale ended with the tail fin of Flight 828 being pulled from the ocean. The plane can't have landed safely in New York and has crashed into the ocean as well. This raises serious questions about the passengers.

Jeff Rake made clear in his interviews that these questions will cause the world to fear the passengers again. This fear will be more widespread than that of the hate group known as the X'ers. This will be much bigger as people around the globe question and fear who and what the Flight 828 passengers actually are.

8 Science Meets Mythology

The tail fin of Flight 828 will launch a renewed investigation into the passengers and what really happened to the plane. Science will clash with the show's mythology as the investigation tries to get to the bottom of the truth.

There's the mythology of the Callings, the death date, traveling through time, and all the other extraordinary things that the passengers have experienced. It will be fascinating to see how this mythology mixes with a more scientific approach to explain the mystery of the plane and the passengers.

7 Saanvi Wrestles With Her Guilt

Things spun out of control for Saanvi in the season 2 finale when she confronted the Major. She poisoned the Major in order to get the information she needed and in their struggle the glass vial containing the antidote shattered. It wasn't Saanvi's intention to kill the Major, but the Major is still dead by her hand.

Saanvi will wrestle with the guilt of committing a murder that she never intended. She's always been a character who tries to do the right thing. This crime will haunt her as she tries to move forward.

6 Saanvi Faces Consequences For Her Actions

Not only will Saanvi be wrestling with guilt, but she'll also have to face consequences for her actions. After committing murder, she could be on the run from the police, which could include main characters like Michaela or Jared.

She might not be able to count on Vance this time as even before the Major's death, Vance felt like Saanvi was out of control and had gone too far. He may not want to help cover up her crime even if it's within his power. Saanvi's usual allies might be unable to help her as she's forced to confront the consequences of her actions on her own.

5 Making Sense Of Zeke's Survival

Seconds after saving Cal and emerging from the icy depths below, Zeke perished, just as the death date seemingly intended. Yet, only moments later, the freezing damage inflicted on him for so long was undone and he was alive and healthy again.

Ben assumes that Zeke survived simply because he trusted in and followed the Callings right up to the very end. While this is possible, it seems like an oversimplified answer that doesn't fully explain Zeke's return to the land of the living. Season 3 will see Ben, Michaela, and the other passengers striving to better understand what happened to Zeke when his death date arrived and what that means for them as their death date draws closer.

4 TJ Will Make New Discoveries In Egypt

In the penultimate episode of season 2, TJ revealed he had taken an internship in Egypt. Due to Egypt's connection to Al-Zuras and his journal, TJ believes that in Egypt he can learn more about the Callings and the death date.

While the showrunner didn't have anything to say about TJ in his interviews, the show is clearly setting up the character for some major discoveries in Egypt. It would make no sense to spend so much of the season on his character, save him from what seemed like certain death, and then just erase him from the show. TJ was saved for a reason and that reason is definitely linked to his internship in Egypt.

3 Some Of The 828 Passengers Aren't So Benevolent

In season 3, fans will meet more passengers from Flight 828, except some of them won't be as benevolent as the Stone family or Saanvi. While a passenger like Adrian used the Callings in a misguided way, he wasn't cruel or corrupt.

The closest example there's been of that is Griffin, a criminal who died not long after using the Callings for his own selfish gains. It sounds like season 3 will feature passengers who have the Callings and use them for evil, which will make the Stone family's mission all the more complicated moving forward.

2 An Integral New Character Will Be Introduced

Jeff Rake also promised fans that a major new character will be introduced in season 3. This character will be so integral to the story that in later seasons it will be difficult to recall what the show was like without this person.

No other details were provided about the character. It could be a Flight 828 passenger who hasn't been introduced yet, a character like Zeke who traveled through time under different circumstances and has the Callings, or even a new government official to replace the Major.

1 The Michaela-Zeke-Jared Love Triangle Will Grow More Complicated

The Michaela-Zeke-Jared love triangle was already pretty complicated and Zeke's unexpected survival will only make it more complicated. Michaela and Zeke got married before Zeke's death date in order to take advantage of the precious little time they had left together. Jared made his peace with their relationship, but many fans believed it was only because he thought the relationship would soon expire.

Zeke's survival defied the expectations of everyone in this triangle and will redefine the dynamics once again. The showrunner also teased that he believes Michaela did an excellent job compartmentalizing her feelings for Jared, but those feelings may not stay compartmentalized moving forward.
