LGBTQ Stars and Allies We Would Love to See as Contestants on Rupaul's Celebrity Drag Race

A celebrity-filled spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race called RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race is headed to VH1 in 2020. The new version of the Emmy-winning reality competition show will feature drag queen favorites from seasons past and a cast of celebrities who will be competing for prize money to be donated to a charity of their choosing.

RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race does not have an air date yet. The show is keeping the names of the celebrity guests under wraps, but many Drag Race favorites are reportedly returning to sissy that walk on the runway. THR announced that Alyssa Edwards, Asia O’Hara, Bob the Drag Queen, Kim Chi, Monét X Change, Monique Heart, Nina West, Trinity the Tuck, Trixie Mattel and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo are all set to appear on the new version of the series. In each episode, three celebrities will undergo a drag transformation with the help of the aforementioned drag queens. Now, in its 12th regular season, Drag Race has welcomed spin-offs like Drag Race UK, Drag Race Thailand, Drag Race Canada, and Drag Race: All Stars, which will air its 5th season on Showtime in June. Past guest appearances of the regular season have included such A-Listers as Lady Gaga, Lisa Kudrow, Christina Aguilera, and Joel McHale.

Since the show has garnered big names as judges in the past, audiences are expecting some exciting celebrity contestants. But being a drag queen is no easy task. Will high-profile stars want to put lash glue on their eyes, get their faces “beat” and walk in heels for a drag makeover? A big named celebrity would really have to have a passion for drag to tuck, pluck and push through the pain of wig glue removal. We’ve compiled a list of celebrities who we think have what it takes to compete on the four-episode spin-off!

  1. Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. The ladies of this comedy duo have been long-time fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race. These campy, hilarious comediennes are the perfect fit for the show’s challenges. They have the comedic chops to win big and their partnership during the production of their TV show Broad City proves that they are great team players. Plus RuPaul himself appeared on Broad City for several episodes. The conversation around drag has evolved greatly over the past few years. It’s not just for gay, cis men. Heterosexual women are often participating in the drag world. And if there is anyone who can do camp, it is these two broads.

3. Miley Cyrus. Pictures of the pop sensation fan-girling over season 9 contenders Shea Coulee and Sasha Velour went viral in                      2017. The photos show Cyrus seeing the drag queens, pointing at them with her jaw-dropped, and running toward them with                    stars in her eyes. She has been an avid fan of “the dolls” (a nickname for RuPaul’s Drag Race queens) for years. She has already                been a guest judge on the show so she could come into the competition like a wrecking ball. Wait... if she did a wrecking ball look              for the runway that would truly be a gag. Or a Hannah Montana reveal where she seems like one character and then a quick wig                snatch turns her into another!? We're not sure who wants Miley on this show more: Miley or us.

RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race does not have an official air date yet, but it's expected to premiere sometime in 2020. Start your engines and may the best celebrity playing for charity... win!
