Big Brother Canada Season 8 Cast Says A Tearful Goodbye In Finale

In tonight's finale viewers of Big Brother Canada saw the houseguests of season 8 say an emotional goodbye to each other and to the house after their season came to an abrupt end. Since leaving many of the houseguests have been airing their grievances with each other publicly online.

Big Brother Canada season 8 was a season of firsts for the show. Nico Vera was the first contestant to self-evict on the latest Canadian installment of the series, Jamar Lee was the first contestant to be ejected after a confrontation left others feeling unsafe, followed closely by Kyle Rozendal being ejected. Michael Stubley is the first contestant to be the only houseguest evicted in a season, and this was the first season to be shutdown mid-production thanks to COVID-19. This season was a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least, and the finale episode was no different.

In Wednessday's episode (filmed March 23rd & 24th) the houseguests were informed by producers Erin Brock that as a result of the government shut downs, "we are forced to officially end the production of this season." The houseguests were in shock at hearing the news, with many such as Susanne, Brooke, Vanessa & Sheldon breaking down in tears. Brock assured the house that they were "completely unforgettable" despite being in the house for a short time, and encouraged them to "take solace in the fact that you provided a much needed distraction and comfort to Canadians." The contestants were given a last 24 hours in the house to spend with each other, filled with many tears and emotional conversations. They shared their feelings about Big Brother, with houseguests like Brooke talking about how this was "the biggest dream I've ever had," Hira sharing that he "never thought [he] would've gotten this opportunity," and Sheldon through tears saying "I just don't know how to move on from this."

On their last day in the house, host Arisa Cox said her goodbyes to the cast via webcam and answered the question on everyone's mind: who's the winner? Arisa told the house, "Obviously there is no winner of season 8," and informed them all that the $100,000 prize would be donated to a COVID-19 response fund instead. The houseguests said their final goodbyes as groups of houseguests were called on to leave, with Brooke & Sheldon being the last two to walk through the doors, and now the season is prematurely finished.

Though there was no drama during the finale, since being released from the house in the middle of last week many of the houseguests have been involved in drama surrounding things that we said while inside the Big Brother Canada house. Typically the houseguests releases are staggered over the course of the season thanks to the weekly evictions and jury house, but with everyone out at once houseguests like Minh-Ly Nguyen-Cao & Susanne Fuda have a lot of choice words to say about each other. Former houseguests like Ika Wong and Bruno Lelo have shared their two cents on the situation, with Bruno tweeting out a reminder to the houseguests to not "go to social media to air your business." Check out Bruno's full comments below:

It wasn't the end to this season that anyone was expecting but the show's producers had no choice in the matter. The biggest concern now is since season 8's production was shut down and reportedly has no plans to return, will Global be renewing the show for a 9th season? With the coronavirus outbreak also delaying the filming of the U.S. season of Big Brother, this could be the last season viewers are able to watch until 2021, but hopefully they'll have the opportunity again. As devastating as it was for the houseguests of Big Brother Canada, they are all home safe now with their loved ones which is the most important thing during this uncertain time in the world.
