10 Defending Jenny Against The Redcoats

One thing most people admire about the Fraser siblings is how they value their family's safety above anything else. Jenny and Jamie have proven they would go to the ends of the earth for one another, going as far as to risk their honor and integrity to ensure the other was safe.

A prime example of this was in "Castle Leoch," when Jamie told Claire the origin of the scars on his back. He tells Claire that the English redcoats set upon their family home and tried to attack Jenny. When Jamie heard her screams, he wasted no time in rushing to his sister's aid to defend her. However, Jamie was flogged as punishment for his actions. Still, he swears he would do it again if it meant Jenny's honor was protected.

In an emotional moment, Jenny tells Jamie she blames herself for the scars and their father's death. Jamie is quick to console her, saying he would have gladly died if it spared her pain. Jenny then responds that she would have exchanged her virtue if it meant it would save his life. After emphasizing their loyalty to one another, the pair embrace before returning home.

In Season 2, Jamie got on the wrong side of Jenny when he decided that he would have to get in touch with their grandsire if they wanted to elicit Jacobite support. In "The Fox's Lair," Jamie realizes his signature had been forged on a muster roll, pledging his service to the Jacobite cause.

Jamie is then dispatched by Prince Charles to enlist more men and support for the cause, including Lord Lovat, who is his and Jenny's grandfather. As a result of this, Jenny and Jamie get into an argument about him going to beg him for help. However, Jamie makes it up to his sister when he decides to watch over her newborn while she and Ian get some rest.

Since John Grey owed Jamie a debt of honor, Harold orders for a cart to be brought to the barn. He then orders for Jamie to be returned to Lallybroch, where Jenny and Ian tend to his wounds. For the next six years, Jenny and Ian harbor and protect Jamie from the English redcoats.

4 Jenny Comforts Jamie

In the first five years of Claire's absence, Jenny proved to be a pillar of strength for Jamie as she helped him nurse his broken heart. In "Surrender," fans find out Jamie had become a recluse and was living alone in an isolated cave. Sometimes he returned to Lallybroch to help run the estate, but he hardly talked to his family.

Jenny struggled to watch her brother in pain, stating that ever since Claire had left, he was just a shell of his former self. She then says that all she wants is his happiness. Later in the episode, Jamie breaks down in Jenny's arms as he witnesses Fergus lose his hand, realizing he had something to fight for.

In "Surrender," Jenny was seen trying to help Jamie move on, proposing that he should reconsider marrying again. Initially, Jamie refused and they didn't speak about it again.

However, Jamie looked to have changed his mind in the twenty-year gap when Claire finds out he married Laoghaire ("First Wife"). In a flashback, we get to see how the match was formed. While celebrating the Hogmanay, Jamie admits that he decided to marry Laoghaire for the sake of Marsali and Joan. Since Jenny also recognized that he was trying to fill a hole in his life, she encouraged him to make the match. All Jenny wants is for Jamie to be happy.

1 Jenny's Protectiveness

Many people know that Jenny and Claire haven't always had the easiest relationship, but that's only because they both want what's best for Jamie. When Claire first arrived in "Lallybroch," Jenny was skeptical of the nurse, calling her a trollop and acting indifferently. Yet, once she noticed Claire made Jamie happy, she soon began to warm to her.

However, by Season 3, their relationship was back to being strained when Jenny finds out Claire is alive. Unbeknownst to the truth, Jenny berates the English woman for not sending word of her survival, and blames her for Jamie's depression. She also scolds the surgeon for upheaving Jamie's life again. Jenny is definitely a sibling you want in your corner.
