GTA Online's Most Dangerous Vehicle Is On Sale And No One Is Safe

One of Grand Theft Auto Online’s most lethal vehicles, the Oppressor MK II, is on deep discount this week, and some players are understandably nervous about it. The notorious hoverbike is feared for its destructive capabilities in Rockstar’s online playground, but its exorbitant price tag usually keeps most players away.

GTA Online has been around for quite a while now, and features like the deadly Oppressor can make it difficult for beginners to get a foothold. Still, there’s a lot to do even for newcomers to GTA Online, whether or not they want to save up to terrorize their fellow players on a hoverbike. For those who want a little friendlier form of vehicular competition, Rockstar recently released San Andreas Prix Open Wheel Races, a new motorsport mode within GTA Online. There, players can put their driving skills to the test as they build and race their own Open Wheel cars.

For many players, though, GTA Online is as much about spreading chaos as it is competing for recognition. The most destructive of those players have long gravitated toward the Oppressor MK II, an unparalleled vehicle when it comes to bringing sheer carnage to the streets. The hoverbike has several offensive abilities, the most deadly of which being its lock-on missiles, and it can also scramble other vehicles to keep from getting tagged by another player’s lock-on. In an update this week, Rockstar Games put the Oppressor MK II on a hefty 30% off sale, making it a bit more affordable, but still in the millions of dollars. On top of that, players first have to purchase a nightclub and the Terrorbyte armored truck, then spend more on upgrades to the Oppressor to bring it up to full strength.

Despite the bar for Oppressor ownership still being pretty high, the discount was enough to get players talking about it. GTA Online’s subreddit has been full of posts about the hoverbike since the sale went live, with some players complaining about the Oppressor, some asking questions about their newly acquired vehicles, and others, like user ARandomC00kie, just posting memes about how new Oppressor owners are in for a surprise when they see the price tag to trick out the vehicle.

Love them or hate them, high-end bonuses like the Oppressor MK II have helped keep GTA Online fresh for years after its release. Still, with rumors of Grand Theft Auto VI coming sooner rather than later, players may find themselves in a whole new online city to run amok in before too long, where they’ll have to start the grind for virtual cash all over again.
