In the Fast and Furious saga, there is a colorful band of misfits who bond together to form a familia. In real life, these people would all be criminals who would likely be eschewed by society. However, in the world of stolen DVD players and skyscraper-hopping cars, they are still criminals. They're just lovable criminals.
As such, the D&D moral alignment categories the Fast and Furious characters fall into is a bit scattered. It's hard to pinpoint many of them as evil, considering the perspective the audience receives as to their motivations for their actions. However, many of them are far from lawful. Each one has shades of all moral alignments, but there are some most prominently associated with certain figures.
10 Dominic Toretto - Chaotic Neutral
Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel's main character in the action franchise, is truly one of the most insane creations ever put to screen. He is portrayed as a lovable sweetheart while at home; he's someone who would do anything for the people he cares about.
But this "anything" includes hurtling his body over a freeway to catch someone in mid-air and crash onto a speeding windshield. This situation was only necessary because of the sticky situations Dom always finds himself in. Judging by the world around him, there's no denying that he's an agent of chaos.
9 Brian O'Conner - Neutral Good
Brian, portrayed by Paul Walker, begins his tenure in the Fast and Furious franchise as an undercover agent for an LAPD task force, paired with the FBI. As a member of law enforcement, Brian O'Conner would be a likely candidate for the lawful category.
However, he defects so quickly in the universe of films, perhaps easily swayed by Dom's familial charms. There's no way he could be lawful because he clearly has no allegiance to the code of law officers. His only code is to driving as fast as he possibly can. A quarter mile at a time for a guy with good attentions, but no loyalty to legality.
8 Letty Ortiz - Chaotic Good
Letty Ortiz, brought to life by Michelle Rodriguez, is a great match for Dom because she can mirror his chaotic energy fairly easily. She's also had one of the most convoluted roads to glory of any of the Fast and Furious characters, with amnesia and death faking abound.
Despite these chaotic moments in Letty's life, she has always remained pure of heart. As someone who is arguably the best character in the entire saga, Letty has to be a beloved hero. But that doesn't mean she can't get into some action-packed scraps along the way.
7 Mia Toretto - Lawful Good
The lawful good category and the Fast and Furious franchise might seem inherently contradictory with one another. But if any character is going to embody that moral alignment, it's Jordana Brewster's Mia Toretto.
She understands the lawful nature of the world around her and does her best to maintain that ethical code. However, Mia also adheres to the code of the familia, doing what she can to help Dom and Brian, but always doing it in the right way. It's no surprise that Mia is the one who first starts a real family in the franchise.
6 Han Lue - Neutral Good
If one's favorite character is not Letty, then there's a good chance that it's Han Lue, played by Sung Kang. Those two have been fan favorites for years and (spoiler alert if one has not seen the trailer for the saga's ninth installment) it was met with enthusiasm when Han was revealed to be alive.
Han is always a key figure in the heists planned by the crew, so he could not be a lawful character. But he is still undeniably good and served as a solid moral compass for the familia while he was alive. Fortunately, he's going to bring some heart back to the crew. Whenever the next movie comes out.
5 Roman Pearce - Chaotic Good
Roman Pearce is a crucial sidekick in the Fast saga and he is played by Tyrese Gibson. Chaotic good is the best moral alignment for describing him, too, considering that Roman has been following the life of crime for his entire life.
But like most of the characters, he was never a bad guy. He did bad things, but for morally justifiable reasons. And he never set out to hurt anyone either! Roman tried to only engage in heists and schemes when they made good business sense, but he could slip back into his classic ways pretty quickly. From movie to movie, Roman is always in a different situation with a different perspective on the world around him. He's a good guy with a chaotic, unpredictable streak, especially from the audience's point of view.
4 Tej Parker - True Neutral
Tej Parker, Ludacris' character in the Fast franchise, is an undeniable true neutral in their world. He has very few discerning character traits and is mostly used in a sidekick capacity. But he's still part of the gang.
Outside of the meta context, though, most of Tej's actions are set in motion to help the people around him thrive. Even when the audience first meets Tej, he is in a refereeing role for the racing contests. And what could be more of a true neutral position than serving as a ref?
3 Gisele Yashar - Neutral Good
In the Fast and Furious films, Gisele Yashar is played by Gal Gadot. She's had many different allegiances over the years (to Dom, to Mossad, an even to Arturo Braga), so it would be hard to pin her as being anything but neutral.
However, she is also undeniably good. Her heart is geared towards helping people to the best of her ability. Even though he has an encyclopedic knowledge of some pretty dangerous weapons, she still makes sure to use that expertise solely for beneficial purposes. Gisele would never hurt anyone. Unless she had to.
2 Luke Hobbs - Lawful Neutral
Like Brian O'Conner, Luke Hobbs (portrayed by Dwayne Johnson) is introduced to the Fast and Furious world as a member of law enforcement. A DSS agent, Luke maintains his loyalty to the law and to justice by working diligently to take down Dom and his familia.
Sometimes, however, Hobbs recognizes that the work he needs to do is greater than himself. He teams up with Dom to tackle even greater threats by the time the sixth movie rolled around. This showed his neutrality because Dom is loyal only to justice and it showed his lawful nature because of how committed he is to doing what is right.
1 Deckard Shaw - Neutral Evil
Returning to the idea of lovable criminals, Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw is the best example of such a trait. He is a villain to the rest of these characters, straight up. But Jason Statham's performance in the role was so charismatic that the film's creative team have gone to great lengths to make him part of the gang.
Of course, he's still evil. At best, he's an arsonist and at worst, he's a murderer. But as the first spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw, illustrated, he's going to great lengths to redeem himself. He has no loyalty to ethics and remains the man in the gang who is most closely evil.
