Prince Harry’s Army Pal Calls Him ‘Selfless’ & ‘Loving’

Prince Harry’s old Army friends are calling him "selfless" and "loving" even after he stepped down as a senior royal. The band of brothers has chosen to stick by each other’s side through the transition period with the monarchy.

The prince has not had many allies since he and his wife, Meghan Markle announced on January 8th that they would be stepping aside from the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on to say that they would like to become financially independent as well as split their time between the United Kingdom and Canada. The reason behind their move was to be able to concentrate on their charities while living a more private life.

One of Prince Harry’s former colleagues from the British Army decided to stand up for his friend by taking to Twitter to defend Prince Harry’s actions. On Tuesday, January 14th, Glenn Haughton, Officer of the British Empire (OBE) had tweeted that the prince was a "loving father" as he made sure readers understood the prince’s past military service. Haughton himself is a senior British Army soldier who served with the prince and since has remained friends, check out the full tweet below:

During the officer’s tweet, he told his followers that Prince Harry was a veteran who fought for his country in Afghanistan but who somehow had been forgotten by their society. The British officer went on to say that Prince Harry had done so much to help those who were less fortunate. Prince Harry also had another warrior in his corner with JJ Chalmers who he also served with. Chalmers said on Friday, January 10th that he had met Prince Harry while they both served together. While being interviewed on The One Show which is based in the UK Chalmers defended the prince's right to choose to exit the royal family. Chalmers went on to say that he is not the captain in the army that he once knew but he is more of a father as a family was always important to the prince. The 33-year-old continued by saying that the prince was making a decision based on protecting his new family.

The defenders of the prince are more than someone would think. Even the couple’s friend, Tom Bradby who stood by their side as they filmed their ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey said that their royal exit was their “declaration of independence.” While others would not go as far as to say their decision is equivalent to those as the founding fathers many at this point just would like to know what the outcome and agreement will end up being.
