Bad Boys for Life's End-Credits Scenes Explained | Screen Rant

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Bad Boys for Life.

Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) return in long-awaited sequel Bad Boys for Life, which treats fans to two end-credits scenes. Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Bad Boys for Life throws the two partners' lives into disarray when Mike is gunned down by an assassin. After a six-month recovery, Mike and Marcus team up with a group of tech-loving millennial cops called Advanced Miami Metro Operations (AMMO) to track down and stop the ruthless assassin.

Things get complicated, however, when in a surprise plot twist Mike realizes that the assassin, Armando (Jacob Scipio), is actually his biological son. While deep undercover in a Mexican drug cartel, before he was partnered with Marcus, Mike had an affair with drug lord Isabel Aretas (Kate del Castillo) - who is now using her son to do the cartel's dirty work. At the end of the movie Armando saves Mike's life, even though doing so means sacrificing his freedom and going to prison.

Bad Boys for Life's first end-credits scene sets up a future sequel where Mike and Armando work together as a father-son team. Mike visits his son in prison, and Armando says that he accepts the fact that he has built up a debt and needs to pay for his crimes. Mike then offers Armando an opportunity to do so, asking for his help on a case in exchange for a reduced sentence. The details of the case and the deal that's on the table are left vague, which means that Bad Boys 4 could go in a lot of different directions. With Mike and Marcus now leading AMMO and Armando on hand to give them insight into the criminal mind (and perhaps use some of his lethal assassin skills), there's clear set-up for another sequel.

Bad Boys for Life also has a second mid-credits scene, though this one is more about laughs than sequel set-up. It's essentially a deleted scene from the movie's third act, after Marcus learns that Mike had a son with Isabel and is (quite rightfully) scolding him for it. The two are on a plane and an unfortunate nearby passenger gets pulled into Marcus' ribbing session when Marcus turns to him and asks, "Would you f**k a witch without a condom?"

Thanks to the star factor of Will Smith, the excitement of seeing him reunited with Lawrence, and the lack of any real competition (sorry, Dolittle), Bad Boys for Life has enjoyed a strong opening weekend at the box office. Sony has already started developing Bad Boys 4, with Smith and Lawrence both set to return. Given that Armando only learns the truth about his father at the end of Bad Boys for Life, it would be interesting to see how their relationship develops over the course of the next movie - and what the original bad boy duo of Mike and Marcus get up to next.
