Caitlyn Jenner of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame recently claimed stepdaughter Khloé Kardashian hasn't really spoken to her in five or six years. The Olympian made the stunning disclosure while shooting the reality competition show, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Olympic gold-medal winning decathlete Bruce Jenner shocked audiences four years ago when he revealed himself as a trans woman and took on the new identity Caitlyn Jenner. Bruce married Kris Jenner in 1991, had two children together Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and the two were divorced in 2014. Only a year later, Caitlyn announced her new identity to the world. Now she's taking on the wild in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
With the holiday season underway, Caitlyn became emotional during a recent episode (via Entertainment Tonight), expressing sadness that she could not be with her family during Thanksgiving. When a fellow cast member asked Caitlyn about breaking the news of her transition to her family - including biological daughters Kylie and Kendall - she did not hold back, saying, "I went through every kid and Khloé, for some reason, was pissed off about something through this whole process." She then dropped a bombshell about her and Khloé's relationship, saying, "Honestly, it’s been five or six years and I really haven’t talked to her since."
According to Khloé, her beef with Caitlyn stems from an interview she granted Vanity Fair magazine shortly after her transition. Caitlyn spoke frankly about her years of loneliness and confusion before coming out as transgender. However, in the process, she said some unfavorable things about her marriage to Khloé's mom, Kris Jenner. When the Kardashian daughters read the article, they took immediate offense to the way their mother was portrayed. Kim made a point to speak directly with Caitlyn about the article. The situation played out on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians when Kim visited Caitlyn at her Malibu home. Yet Khloé took her mother's side and has refused to have any contact with Caitlyn. Unofficially, when news broke that Caitlyn was transgender, Khloé was quite vocal about being bothered by the transition. She stated on Keeping Up With the Kardashians that she was having trouble giving up her "father figure" Bruce.
While Caitlyn may not physically represent as "Bruce," she's still the same person who kept a roof over her head since Khloé was five years old, and even walked her down the aisle when she got married. At the end of the day, Caitlyn's gender confirmation process was not a personal affront to Khloé; it was a necessary step for Caitlyn to live truthfully. These two women should confront the situation head-on, bury the hatchet, and get back to being a family. This is especially so now that Khloé has baby True to think about and tomorrow isn't promised to anyone.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians airs Sundays at 9pm EST on E!
