New Marvel TV Show Preview Releasing On Disney+ Tomorrow

In a series of tweets ahead of its November 12 launch, Disney+ tweeted a list of the MCU titles coming to the streaming platform, including a new special titled Expanding the Universe. Fans of the MCU will finally be able to stream their favorite movies in one place when Disney+ goes online in the United States. From Iron Man to Avengers: Endgame, almost every MCU movie will be available for streaming. However, Netflix still holds the streaming rights to a handful of MCU movies until the end of the year, which means Disney+ subscribers will have to wait to stream Black Panther, And-Man and the Wasp, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War.

Of course, Disney is also producing new Marvel TV shows officially set in the MCU canon. Previously announced Marvel TV shows include WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel. In fact, Phase 4 of the MCU is expected to play out in large part on Disney+ television shows. While little is known about many of these titles, Falcon and the Winter Soldier recently began filming its first season.

MCU fans have been eagerly awaiting these new shows for months; however, the November 11 tweet from Disney+ revealed the existence of Marvel's Expanding the Universe for the first time. Right now, very little is known about the new special, which will be available for streaming at launch on Disney+. Expanding the Universe will give fans "a new look at the original series coming to the service," according to the official Disney+ tweet. Starting November 12, Disney+ subscribers may get the best look yet at Phase 4 of the MCU.

Based on that brief description, Expanding the Universe will be a one-time special providing an overview of the upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows. The special may feature behind-the-scenes footage, cast interviews, or some other type of exclusive preview. Because even though Marvel fans can watch nearly all of the MCU movies when Disney+ launches, they will have to wait a little longer to see the new shows. At this time, Falcon and the Winter Soldier does not have an official release date, although Disney has previously confirmed that the show will tentatively start streaming in fall 2020.

HBO regularly teases upcoming movies and TV shows with behind-the-scenes features and specials, and it sounds like Disney+ is taking a similar approach here. Ahead of the release of shows like Watchmen and His Dark Materials, extended previews featuring interviews with the casts of these shows appeared on HBO streaming apps. For Disney+ subscribers tuning in on November 12, Expanding the Universe may provide the first and best look yet at the Phase 4 Marvel shows.
