5 MCU Characters Billy Butcher Would Definitely Beat Up (& 5 Who Would Beat Him Up)

Amazon Prime's The Boys is an amazing piece of television that offers a unique and refreshing take on the superhero genre as a whole. Thanks to its incredible casting and extraordinarily well-written characters, the series became a massive hit in a very short amount of time.

Billy Butcher is a hardened man who bears a grudge against all Supes, especially the villainous Homelander. Butcher tends to let his fists do all the talking which usually ends up with him giving someone a very bloody beating. However, the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are not quite so easy to put down.

10 Would Beat Up - Justin Hammer

Honestly, Justin Hammer was probably the worst thing about Iron Man 2. Every time he was on screen, you just wanted to punch him to make him stop talking. He was just so pathetic and weak; he was the outsider trying to get in with the cool kids and it was just unbelievably awkward to watch.

Hammer didn't even have the excuse of intelligence to explain his weird attitude as he had to rope in Ivan Vanko to design an Iron Man suit for him. If Billy Butcher encountered Hammer in The Boys, it would be so, so satisfying to watch him beat Hammer up. It would be short, but really sweet.

9 Would Lose - Captain America

Billy Butcher would have no patience for Captain America's unbearable patriotism and naivety and to be honest, we don't blame him. Steve Rogers's determination to do the right thing for everyone is cute and all but it does make him seem incredibly precocious, and even a bit obnoxious at times.

However, there is no denying that Cap makes for an extremely morally sound superhero, and a powerful one at that. If Captain America could get beaten up by a cockney drunk grieving for his lost wife, then he wouldn't really be a great superhero. Part of Steve's charm is that he goes up against impossible odds and still wins.

8 Would Beat Up - Helmut Zemo

It's a well-known stereotype that the MCU suffers from a lack of memorable villains, and admittedly, there was a fairly long period of time where a lot of the antagonists were kind of lackluster. However, when Captain America: Civil War arrived in theatres, it gave audiences a complex villain in the form of Helmut Zemo.

Zemo's origins were both heartbreaking and provided an understanding for his actions and he was the only antagonist to actually break the Avengers apart. However, he did all this through manipulation and mind control. If Butcher were there, he would have cut through all the politics and just knocked Zemo's lights out, period.

7 Would Lose - Hela

In a truly amazing film, Hela was the cream on the cake. Officially known as the Goddess of Death, Hela was the older sister of Thor and Loki. In fact, Hela coined the phrase 'sibling rivalry'. Annoyed with Odin for imprisoning her for millennia, Hela banished the Odinson brothers and conquered Asgard in half an hour.

In all fairness to Billy Butcher, he has never been known to run away from a fight. But, come on! Hela can throw big ass knives from her arms, she has an army of the undead and she defeated not only Thor and Loki, but also the entire Asgardian army. Compared to that, a punch from Butcher is just going to seem pretty incompetent.

6 Would Beat Up - The Mandarin (a.k.a. Trevor Slattery)

First of all, the Mandarin still exists in the MCU and might even appear in the upcoming Shang-Chi movie, where hopefully he'll be a lot more threatening. However, try as we might, we cannot ignore the Mandarin from Iron Man 3. The villain looked so promising right up until the moment he was revealed to be a fraud.

Obviously this came as a massive shock but more importantly, it was an even bigger disappointment. Many fans were not happy and it's fairly safe to say that Billy Butcher would have been totally fuming. Since the Mandarin (or Trevor, as he's better known) was a fake, Butcher could easily beat him up ten times over.

5 Would Lose - The Hulk

Billy Butcher would be able to beat up Bruce Banner with incredible ease. Thug versus scientist? No contest. However, the same absolutely cannot be said for Banner's green, grumpy as hell, alter ego. The Hulk has an amazing victory count, including Thor, Loki, a massive wolf, and even a Chitauri Leviathan.

How exactly would Butcher beat the Hulk in a fistfight? The massively powerful Hulkbuster Iron Man Armour was barely enough to contain the beast. Maybe now that Professor Hulk is in control, Butcher stands a slightly better shot but to be honest, his odds aren't looking great.

4 Would Beat Up - Hawkeye

Hawkeye has become something of a running joke within the MCU. Given that a lot of the Avengers have superpowers or an amazing intellect, some people felt that Hawkeye's contribution to the team was a little inadequate. To be fair, he has been given significant storylines in later movies but there's no denying that he does occasionally feel like a spare part.

Despite his obvious prowess with a bow and arrow, Butcher could probably beat up Hawkeye with relative ease. Sure, Clint might able to shoot Butcher a little bit but Butcher is no stranger to pain. Actually, these two men have a lot to bond over if they ever met but there's no doubt in our minds as to who would come out on top.

3 Would Lose - Thor

Surprisingly, Thor was a lot like Butcher in his first MCU appearance. He was arrogant, angry and frequently acted rashly. He even got his hammer taken away because he couldn't handle responsibility. While Butcher doesn't possess a hammer (that we know of), he is definitely all of the aforementioned.

Despite their similarities though, Thor is more than a match for Butcher any day of the week. Even when he was powerless, Thor clearly possessed a whole lot of strength. When he got his powers back, Butcher had no chance, and now that Thor has levelled up in RagnarokButcher is merely a fly on Thor's metaphorical windscreen.

2 Would Beat Up - Tony Stark

With his metal suits of armor, Iron Man could easily take on and defeat Butcher. However, take away the suit and what do you get? Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist of course. But also, you get a defenseless, middle-aged man with unresolved daddy issues.

Butcher is many things but he never tries to cheat himself out of a beating. What we mean by that is when he goes into battle, he doesn't wear armor, he doesn't necessarily have a plan, he just goes in guns blazing. While this is definitely reckless, it demonstrates that Butcher has grit and life experience. Therefore, he would be able to floor Stark quite easily.

1 Would Lose - Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is the newest character on this list, and one of the most powerful being in the whole of the MCU. This is quite an achievement considering she has only appeared in two films so far. At the end of her first solo movie, she powered up big time to scare off Ronan and the Kree, becoming a massively powerful cosmic being in the process.

Carol Danvers has rescued Tony Stark from space, seen off an intergalactic army singlehandedly and fought Thanos face to face and lived to tell the epic tale. Billy Butcher has put a bomb up a Supe's behind and blown up a house. If Butcher tried to fight Captain Marvel, it's doubtful as to whether she'd even notice.
