Dungeons And Dragons Character Classes Of The Vampire Diaries Characters

The characters on the long-running TV series The Vampire Diaries are a unique blend of personalities, and throughout the show's eight-year run they obviously all underwent an enormous amount of changes and developments. These characters had to deal with incredibly dangerous, life or death situations on a regular basis, and most of the time they found themselves standing up against adversaries that were much more powerful or more dangerous than they were.

And when it came to fighting for their survival, it seems like each character dealt with the situation in their own unique ways. These kids weren't born to be warriors, but they had to become warriors to stay alive. So if the whole TVD gang was thrust into the fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons, what kind of fighter would they be? Namely, which character class would each TVD character fall into? This is all of the major TVD characters, along with their D&D character class.

10 Klaus Mikaelson - Warlock

The Warlock characters class in the world of Dungeons & Dragons is a character who has access to very powerful magic, but they tend towards the dark side of magic and they have obtained their powers through some kind of fell pact with a demon or deity that has granted them their powers.

And that describes Klaus Mikaelson pretty much to a T. Klaus is undoubtedly one of the darkest and most powerful characters in the history of The Vampire Diaries, and it basically took a deal with the devil to transform him and the rest of his family into the first vampires in the world.

9 Alaric Saltzman - Paladin

Alaric Saltzman wasn't born into the world of the supernatural, and he only became involved in the insanity of vampires, werewolves, and witches as a result of being abandoned by his wife (who he initially believed was killed by Damon Salvatore, but was actually turned into a vampire by Damon instead).

But he certainly adapted to his circumstances well, and as he learned how to cope with this world of horror creatures come to life he became one of the strongest fighters in the Mystic Falls gang. Which is why Mr. Saltzman belongs in the Paladin class of Dungeons & Dragons characters.

8 Jeremy Gilbert - Monk

A Monk is typically a gifted physical fighter who is extremely devoted to their cause and is essentially set on their path of heroism because of a divine command to do so. And that is a pretty apt analogy for Jeremy Gilbert's development as a character in The Vampire Diaries. Jeremy started off as an angry, lonely kid, and once he was dragged into Elena's supernatural shenanigans he actually seemed to be team vampire.

That is until he found out he was actually one of the Five, a group of magical vampire hunters whose quest to destroy the vampire race supersedes all else.

7 Tyler Lockwood - Fighter

Tyler Lockwood's physical strength is undoubtedly what distinguished him as a character and fighter, whether it was when he was a human, a werewolf, or a hybrid. But once his life became a very kill or be killed kind of situation he forced himself to adapt quickly and learned how to maximize his natural skills and abilities as much as possible.

The Fighter class of Dungeons & Dragons characters are similarly well seasoned and dimensional fighters, and what makes Tyler seem like a Fighter class more than anything is simply the fact that he actually fights. Most of the Mystic Falls gang only works on the defense, but Tyler is one to go on the offensive as much as he can.

6 Matt Donovan - Cleric

The Cleric class of Dungeons & Dragons character is a capable fighter to be sure, but what they really excel at is healing more than anything. And while Matt Donovan obviously isn't a healer in the literal sense, he is absolutely the kind of friend who is there to support the people he loves and help them work through whatever they're dealing with as much as he can.

Matt certainly has no qualms about killing a vampire if he needs to, but he is much more about keeping people as safe and happy as he can, which makes him the best fit for the Cleric class.

5 Bonnie Bennett - Sorcerer

Bonnie Bennett certainly knows enough about magic to fall into the Wizard class, and honestly she probably has enough experience with dark magic to fit into the Warlock class, but ultimately it seems like she's the best fit for the Sorcerer class. Sorcerers in the Dungeons & Dragons world are characters who are powerful magic users because they were born with their power.

And Bonnie is the latest witch in a very long and powerful witch bloodline, and although she did develop her skills as her story continued, what really saved her life from the very start was her natural, incredibly powerful magical abilities.

4 Caroline Forbes - Rogue

Caroline Forbes was never destined to be the most extraordinary girl when she was a human, and she was never destined to be the most extraordinary vampire when she was turned. But she somehow managed to outlive nearly everyone else on the show, despite the fact that they were more powerful than her.

And how exactly did she accomplish that? By adapting to every situation, learning how to cope with dangerous situations quickly, and by being sneaky and underhanded if it would give her an advantage. So it only makes sense that Caroline would be in the Rogue character class in D&D.

3 Elena Gilbert - Druid

To be honest, Elena could really be all over the place sometimes when it came to her characterization. At one minute she's willing to die to save the person she loves, and the next minute she'll commit vampire genocide without batting an eye. But as a doppelganger, she is a truly unusual specimen in the supernatural world.

Elena's very existence is caused by some extremely powerful natural magic, so for that reason it only makes sense that she would be a Druid. The Druid class is deeply connected to the innate magic of nature, and they in turn draw their power from that nature magic.

2 Damon Salvatore - Ranger

Some people might call Damon Salvatore's behavior manic, but we prefer to call him versatile. The root cause of a lot of Damon's nuttier behavior seems to be that he's just not a people person. He can't handle relationships and interactions with others, and once he gets emotionally involved with someone he tends to go completely off the rails because of it at one point or another. And that's why Damon would ideally be a Ranger.

The Rangers are a very versatile fighting class, but they work their best game when they're going solo. They like to wander the world on their own, which is a state that seems to be the most peaceful for Damon.

1 Stefan Salvatore - Monk

Just like Elena, Stefan could reasonably be sorted into the Druid class of Dungeons & Dragons fighters because he is literally a product of nature's magic. But given Stefan's long and complicated history, he seems to be a better fit for the Monk class.

Obviously when Stefan loses it he really loses it, but most of his life has been devoted to following his own personal code and he spends nearly every waking moment with one singular, righteous purpose on his mind. And that is precisely why Stefan really fits into the Monk character class of Dungeons & Dragons characters.
