Ben Affleck Out As Batman: The Internet's Best Reactions And Memes

After a long chain of rumors and discussion about Ben Affleck's future as Batman in the DCEU movies, he has finally come out to say that he will no longer don the cape and cowl. The Matt Reeves directed solo Batman film will release in 2021 and star a younger Batman and be a much different take on the character than what any film has done before and Affleck himself even said he was excited for it. Fans have always seemed mixed about movies like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, but there were many who praised Affleck's performance in both films. Some felt that he was the best Batman to have ever been cast on the big screen.

With the announcement that Affleck is out of the role, fans have taken to the Internet to post their reactions. Many people are stricken with grief that their favorite Batman actor is out after only starring in two movies. Some are thrilled that he is finished and are excited to see what happens next for the Dark Knight on the big screen. Here are the best internet reactions and memes about Ben Affleck exiting the Batman role.

THE MANY FACES OF BATFLECK

Despite appearing in three movies, Ben Affleck's Batman had a total of six different costumes, with some being slight variations on his classic design, while others were ripped straight from the comics. Of all the complaints about the DCEU, there was no denying that a lot of work went into the bat suit for those movies.

It was clean, concise, and had an attractive color scheme. Even the adaptation of the armored bat suit from The Dark Knight Returns was downright impressive. The higher production value on those suits made them some of the best-looking on the big screen. It's a shame that we won't see any more in its design.

I HOPE THEY REMEMBER YOU

The dust memes after the release of Avengers: Infinity War took the internet by storm. While they've since passed, they came back one more time to bid Ben Affleck a nice farewell from the bat suit, as his departure was so abrupt.

After rumors were going back and forth for so long, everything had become silent on it and Matt Reeves upcoming film. All of a sudden, Affleck confirmed that he was finally departing the role and a new Dark Knight would tackle the solo film. To many fans, it felt like he was taken by the infamous Infinity Gauntlet snap.

THE NEW BATMAN

There were several people that didn't feel Ben Affleck was a worthy actor to play the Dark Knight. When his departure was announced, some of them were happy rather than grief-stricken. Of course, that pleasure can lead to some sarcastic comments.

Many fans have been wondering who will replace him in Matt Reeves' film and posting their casting ideas on Twitter. This has led to some people joking around a bit, as the bar for Batman actors (for them) was set fairly low with Affleck's performance. Needless to say, those people are simply ready for something new regarding the Caped Crusader.

NOT WHAT WE HAD IN MIND

It was only a matter of time before celebrities began commenting on Ben Affleck's departure. This led to David Cross flexing some of the humor that we know and love him for. Stating that he was going to be the next Batman, he was sure to garner a lot of laughs from his fans.

Cross was known for more comedic-centered productions like Alvin and the ChipmunksArrested Development, and Kung Fu Panda. It's difficult to imagine what Cross would do if given a role as the Dark Knight. It would be enjoyable for a parody, but never the real thing.

PARTY HARD

There are people who loved Ben Affleck as Batman and there are many others who didn't. It's easy to tell the difference because of the type of reactions they post. Those who were ready to see a different actor in the bat suit tended to post more memes in general.

The dancing crabs are just a reflection of how some people were thrilled that this era of the DCEU is over and that Warner Bros seems to be moving in a better direction to make better films. We just hope that Affleck's departure will mean good things for future DC films and not the other way around.

THE POTENTIAL

A lot of groundwork was done to create an interesting Batman movie in the DCEU. Ben Affleck was an aged Batman who had already seen some horrible things. Jason Todd had already been destroyed at the hands of the Joker, who was already cast as Jared Leto. Then there was the debut of Deathstroke during the post-credits scene in Justice League.

We will never see Affleck directly interact with those characters, though. Furthermore, there were all sorts of other villains from the comics that could've made it to a solo Batman film. with Affleck in the costume Unfortunately, those hopes are all dashed.

CAN'T GET UP

Spider-Man's fight in Captain America: Civil War was an intense one. When all was said and done, he couldn't even get back up and had no other choice that to go back home in Queens. Ben Affleck seems to have gone through a similar experience by playing Batman.

He starred in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. He then had a handful of cameos in Suicide Squad. That was the full range of Affleck's appearances in the DCEU. He was originally planned to be in his own movie, but those plans were scrapped. There were even plans for a Justice League sequel, but we know how that ended up.

IN AN ALTERNATE REALITY

The concept of the Multiverse is no stranger to DC. Their comics and TV shows often use this idea to give us alternate versions of our favorite characters. Applying that idea to real life, just think that on a hypothetical Earth-2, Man of Steel released normally, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice debuted with its Ultimate Cut, Suicide Squad didn't suffer reshoots, and Justice League wasn't edited at the last minute.

Topping it all off is the deliverance of a solo Batman movie directed and starred in by Ben Affleck. That's just not how things played out in our world.

A CRAZY IDEA

Now that Ben Affleck is out, the race is on to see who will be cast as a younger Bruce Wayne. Some people have joked around, positing that actors like Michael Cera could get the role. However, one person has the "craziest idea" when it comes to the new Batman: Adam Driver.

Known mostly for playing Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, Adam Driver would be an interesting choice. His past films have proven that he knows how to brood. Who's to say he couldn't do it in the cape and cowl as well? Needless to say, we imagine many people would be outraged by this casting choice.

NO BATMAN FILM

The reason Batman was introduced in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in the first place was to begin putting the pieces together to give him his own solo movie. It's difficult to properly judge what Ben Affleck could do as the character without being given his own movie to star in.

In every movie he appeared in, it was about an ensemble cast, so there was no time to focus on just him. Think back to to the early plans when Affleck was supposed to direct and star in his own Batman movie. There are still changes being made to that film now, and Affleck is no longer part of it.
