Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse contains credits some fans have misinterpreted as referring to Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder, but that's not the case. As beloved as director Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire tend to be, everyone's favorite web-slinger was having quite the rough go of it at the movies for awhile there. Raimi's Spider-Man 3 is often still the butt of jokes, and The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel starring Andrew Garfield in the title role did little to reverse Spidey's cinematic fortunes.
Thankfully, Sony finally "saw the light" after the failure of the Garfield films, and brokered a deal to insert Spider-Man into the loving arms of Marvel Studios' MCU. Played by Tom Holland, Spider-Man has now taken part in the films Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War, receiving acclaim each time, despite that whole dying thing at the end of the latter. Peter Parker will return in next year's Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, but on the animated side of the fence, a different iteration of Spider-Man has taken the spotlight.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just hit theaters on Thursday, and focuses on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as the lead Spider-person of what ends up being a multiverse of them, including an older Peter Parker (Jake Johnson). Reviews for Spider-Man's first theatrical animated feature have been absolutely glowing, and some have even dubbed the film the greatest Spider-Man movie of all time. However, sometime after Spider-Verse's first Thursday night screenings, a piece of incorrect information began floating around on Twitter that the film offers a "thanks" credit to former DC directors Zack Snyder and Chris Nolan. It's unclear where exactly this piece of information originated, but we've seen the film too, and can confirm that it's not true.
While an image has started going around on social media purporting to be the credit for Snyder and Nolan, it's being misrepresented. For one, only the names Nolan and Zack are seen, no Chris or Snyder. For two, the names are seen as part of a section under the heading "production babies," a heading not visible in the image in question. That's right, it's a list of kids born to members of the cast and crew during production, and two of them just happened to be named Nolan and Zack. How that got twisted around to be about the directors of The Dark Knight and Justice League, respectively, is anyone's guess.
It's true that this misunderstanding is a relatively harmless one, but it serves as a lesson of why one shouldn't just believe everything they read on Twitter, as that really does seem to be what happened here. A first person said Nolan and Snyder were thanked in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's credits, and then it just spread from there. As cool as some fans might think it would be if the makers of Spider-Verse threw in a shout out to prior superhero directors, in this case, the truth is much more mundane.
