American actor Logan Lerman is in talks to star in Jordan Peele’s historical thriller The Hunt. The 10-episode Amazon series will focus on nazi hunters in 1970s New York City.
In September 2017, the first details about The Hunt emerged, most notably that Peele’s company Monkeypaw Productions would produce the series. The news was significant, as the filmmaker/comedian had recently released his directorial debut, Get Out, one of the year’s most popular films. At the 2018 Academy Awards, Peele won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and it was soon thereafter announced that Amazon had officially greenlit The Hunt, an original series created by David Weil about the plotting of a Fourth Reich in the United States.

Per Variety, The Hunt may soon have its male lead, as Lerman is reportedly nearly set to star as Jonah Heidelbaum. In The Hunt, the character becomes immersed in a dark underworld after his grandmother is murdered, leading him to discover a diverse group of nazi hunters. At only 26 years old, Lerman had been acting in feature films throughout the entire 21st century, beginning with supporting roles in the 2000 Mel Gibson films What Women Want and The Patriot. After starring in the popular WB series Jack & Bobby from 2004 to 2005, Lerman successfully transitioned into more mature roles in mainstream cinema, as he received critical acclaim and accolades for performances in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), and Fury (2014). In recent years, Lerman has executive produced smaller budget films like Indignation (2016) and A24’s The Vanishing of Sidney Hall (2017), both of which he starred in as well.
For Peele, the latest news about The Hunt comes shortly after new details emerged about his next directorial endeavor entitled Us, a Blumhouse horror film starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave), Marvel star Winston Duke (Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War), and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, The Handmaid’s Tale). Yesterday, Peele released a nightmarish poster for Us, and the official trailer is scheduled for Christmas Day. Until then, Peele fans have much to discuss given Lerman’s potential involvement in The Hunt, a series that will undoubtedly challenge viewers and provoke discussions about past and present issues in American society.
