Godzilla: King of the Monsters is expanding Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, and that means several more Titans are joining the fold. Beginning with Gareth Edwards' 2014 reboot, Godzilla, WB launched yet another shared universe to compete with other studios in the growing trend in Hollywood of interconnected narratives. And while it took them a few years to build upon the MonsterVerse with Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island in 2017, they are now moving forward at breakneck pace.
In 2019, Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters will pit Godzilla against several new creatures, who are known as Titans in the MonsterVerse, in order to restore the natural order of the world. In addition to making Godzilla the official King of the Monsters, the upcoming blockbuster film will presumably spend some time setting up the following year's epic crossover movie, Godzilla vs. Kong, which is being directed by Adam Wingard and features several returning stars from Godzilla 2.

But before that happens, there's plenty to get through in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which not only introduces three of the most iconic monsters in cinema history but also several smaller and lesser-known kaiju to keep further flesh out the burgeoning shared universe. With that in mind, here are all the Titans appearing in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla
Godzilla 2, of course, features the return of Godzilla himself, but the big question here is, is Godzilla the actual King of the Monsters? In the old movies, comics, and various other mediums, Godzilla has been revered as the ultimate kaiju/monster, but in the MonsterVerse, he may not have that title just yet. Instead, it's possible that, for now, Ghidorah is the current King of the Monsters - and defeating the flying dragon appears to be the crux of what's happening in Godzilla 2. And while the first movie primarily focused on the mystery of Godzilla and the M.U.T.O.s, the upcoming blockbuster film will expand into more monster-on-monster action.
In the time since the 2014 movie, Godzilla has been patrolling the Pacific Rim as well as parts of the rest of the world, traveling between the hollow earth points in order to keep an eye on all the monsters in the world, including the three new Titans appearing in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Now that humanity knows Godzilla is on their side, it's only a matter of time before they side with the iconic kaiju in defeating the other Titans on the planet. Otherwise, as it's been posited in the Godzilla 2 trailers, the restoration of the world's natural order may mean humanity's extinction.
Ghidorah
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the first Hollywood-made movie to include King Ghidorah on the big screen - or, at least a version of the iconic three-headed dragon. First appearing in the 1964 movie, Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, Ghidorah has been Godzilla's arch-nemesis throughout the Toho movies, and now that trend will continue in Hollywood with Ghidorah making its way into the MonsterVerse. In its original incarnation, Ghidorah was an extraterrestrial monster that destroyed planets. While the MonsterVerse may disregard parts of the kaiju's past, such as him destroying Venus, Ghidorah's space origin was recently confirmed.

In-universe, Ghidorah - known as Monster Zero - is currently residing deep in Antarctica, where Monarch has been studying him. Considering what Monarch has learned so far, it seems that each of Ghidorah's heads will be given unique personalities. Plus, as determined by the Monarch Sciences website and shown in the second Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer, Ghidorah towers over Godzilla in height (521 ft and 355 ft, respectively) and appears to be far superior to the original kaiju with regards to strength. According to Legendary's viral website, if Ghidorah used its Gravity Beams superpower, "the stratosphere would be torn open by an otherworldly tempest of thunder and lightning our sky has never seen."
Rodan
One of three big, new monsters appearing in Godzilla: King of the Monsters is Rodan, a flying reptile whose in-universe history contains nothing but destruction. Even though Rodan is one of the smaller Titans appearing in Godzilla 2 (154 ft), his wingspan is astonishingly long - coming in at 871 ft - which makes his volcanic abilities (as shown in the Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailers) extremely devastating; that's why he's earned the moniker "Fire Demon" by ancient civilizations. According to the Monarch Sciences website, Rodan currently resides inside the Isla De Mara volcano.

Rodan first appeared in the 1956 movie Rodan, just two years after Godzilla's debut, but it wasn't until a few years later that the iconic kaiju ultimately joined Godzilla's universe - and now Rodan is slated to join Godzilla once again, but this time in the MonsterVerse. It's unclear where Rodan's allegiances lie in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but it's theoretically possible that Rodan may join Godzilla in the fight against Ghidorah at some point in the film. And in keeping with the notion that there are multiple kings and queens in the MonsterVerse, the Monarch organization believes that Rodan's internal volcanic combustion system and Pteranodon-esque flight capabilities make Rodan the King of the Skies, in the same vein that Kong is King of the Primates.

Mothra
First teased in 2014's Godzilla movie, Mothra is finally joining the MonsterVerse - which represents a significant step for the shared universe as Mothra is one of the most popular kaiju/monsters in Toho's universe. While general audiences in the western hemisphere may not be entirely aware of Mothra's existence, her appearance in Godzilla: King of the Monsters should, hopefully, change that. Even though Mothra first appeared in the 1961 film, Mothra, 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be the first time that she will appear in a Hollywood film, as is the case with most of the monsters/Titans in the upcoming blockbuster movie.

Judging by the first Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer, Mothra will appear in multiple forms in the upcoming film. It's unclear how that will work into the story and how far the movie expands, but it's also possible that Godzilla 2 will include Mothra's fairies as a way for Monarch to communicate with the Titan. Furthermore, coupling the fact that she's been a guardian angel to humans in the past with her God Rays superpower has resulted in Mothra being revered as the Queen of the Monsters in the MonsterVerse, which is why she's been closely associated with Godzilla. And considering that Mothra is also one of Ghidorah's enemies, it's plausible she will side with Godzilla against Ghidorah in Godzilla 2.
Unknown Monster: Possibly Kumonga
In the latest trailer, it was revealed that there are two more Titans appearing in Godzilla 2. It's been long rumored that there would be multiple, smaller monsters showing up throughout Godzilla 2 in order to greatly expand the MonsterVerse ahead of Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020; in fact, the sequel's official synopsis states that Godzilla vs. Kong takes place "in a time when monsters walk the Earth," which indicates that there are more than just a handful of Titans living in the world.

At about the 0:46 mark in the second Godzilla 2 trailer, a crab-like monster is shown coming from out of the ground (possibly from within one of the hollow points throughout the Earth). Although it hasn't been confirmed, it's widely believed that the monster in the trailer is Kumonga (aka Spiga), a giant, mutated spider that first appeared in the film, Son of Godzilla. However, despite debuting as a villain, Kumonga has occasionally sided with Godzilla himself, and it may do so again. Interestingly, the MonsterVerse has already seen a giant spider - in 2017's Kong: Skull Island - so there's already a precedent for Kumonga to appear in Godzilla 2.
Unknown Monster: Possibly Anguirus
Another mystery monster was teased in the second Godzilla 2 trailer, appearing at about the 0:57 mark. While viewers got a better look at the monster that could be Kumonga, all that fans have to go on for the second monster is that it has rock-like back since it's emerging from beneath the surface as well as the fact that it's quite enormous. Putting those two things together, in addition to the fact that Godzilla: King of the Monsters appears to be borrowing heavily from Godzilla's earlier films, it stands to reason that the second monster is Anguirus.
For those that don't know, Anguirus was the first monster to fight Godzilla, in the 1955 film Godzilla Raids Again. However, as Godzilla has become more of a heroic character over time, Anguirus has also sided with the iconic kaiju in several films. So, it's possible that Anguirus could appear in Godzilla: King of the Monster to either fight Gojira one more time or side with the Titan in his fight against Ghidorah. We'll just have to wait and see.
