Marvel has honored Stan Lee with a fitting video tribute to celebrate the artist's legacy, while Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has penned an emotional send-off to one of the pioneers of the comic book industry. For seven decades, the prolific writer created some of the most iconic heroes and villains in pop culture, including Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man.
Lee passed away at the age of 95 due to a series of recent issues with his health, and he left behind a lasting legacy in the world of comic books, film, and storytelling. There has since been an outpouring of love and support from his peers, as well as anyone whose lives have been touched by his work. However, the hardest blow in Lee's passing was no doubt felt by Marvel itself; and, amid the grief, the Marvel has honored their chairman emeritus with the release of an emotional tribute.

Sharing the special video in celebration of Lee's life and career, Marvel gathered Joe Quesada, Tom Brevoort, Dan Buckley, and Sana Amanat to share their most cherished memories with the industry titan and how he forever changed the entertainment landscape with his iconic creations. Starting the clip with a footage of a young Lee from 1968 as he introduces himself, the emotional weight of the video extends to snippets from his early life as a budding writer up until his more recent appearances.
Meanwhile, Liefeld penned his personal tribute to Lee over at Variety, where he detailed how Lee directly affected his life - from reading his stories when he was a young boy to actually spending time with the artist after joining the comic book industry as a writer. Like many, the Deadpool creator attested to Lee's warmth and intellect, lamenting that "Stan Lee was Marvel Comics. Period." Liefeld also mentioned in the tribute that Lee "was a larger-than-life presence, his image drawn into the actual comics," and then added, "Simply put, he was the personality behind it all."
It's no secret that the last year of Lee's life was riddled with difficulties. Following the death of his wife Joan, he was reportedly a victim of elder abuse (made worse by the fact that he was victim to people who were supposedly closest to him), was granted a three-year restraining order against his alleged abuser, former business manager Keya Morgan, and also had a number of health scares during the last several months, forcing him to skip various public appearances. Now, as the world mourns one of its greatest storytellers, Stan Lee will live on as his creations continue to provide entertainment all around the world.
