Verne Troyer’s Death Officially Ruled a Suicide

Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer's death has officially been ruled a suicide. Troyer passed away back in April, but the details pertaining to his cause of death are now starting to be revealed.

Troyer had been in several popular films before his death. The actor began his acting career in 1996 in the horror film Pinocchio's Revenge. Troyer also appeared in the films Men in BlackFear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. While the actor appeared in several films each year, he was best known for playing the role of Mini-Me in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers in Goldmember. Troyer suffered from the rare genetic disorder called achondroplasia dwarfism which caused him to stand 2 ft 8 in, but he never seemed to let his disability get in the way of making a career in Hollywood. At the time of his death, people had questioned how the actor died due to his family releasing a statement regarding suicide and depression and now, their suspicions have been confirmed.

First reported by The Guardian, Troyer's actual cause of death was a suicide which the Los Angeles county department of medical examiner-coroner said was from "the effects of alcohol". Troyer had previously been known to be an alcoholic and had been in a Los Angeles hospital for alcohol intoxication the weeks prior to his death. He passed away at the age of 49.

2018 has been a rough year for celebrity deaths. Scott Wilson who played Hershel on The Walking Dead is the most recent celebrity that has died, while singer Aretha Franklin and Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko passed away this summer. The world also lost one of its greatest scientists when Stephen Hawking passed away in March at the age of 76. Needless to say, a lot of talented people have lost their lives in 2018.

Troyer's death is also one of many that were taken this year due to mental illness. Mark Salling and Margot Kidder both passed away from suicide this year, which shows that mental health continues to be a growing problem. Even though Troyer was taken too soon, he continued to make people smile until the day he died. This year, Troyer appeared on the sitcom My 90-Year-Old Roommate and in a short film called The Delivery. His final role will come with the film Hipsters, Gangsters, Aliens and Geeks where he plays Emperor Beezel-Chugg.
