Take a closer look at Tyler Hoechlin's black Superman suit in this year's Arrowverse crossover event in new set images. Filming for the TV special titled "Elseworlds" has been going on for several days now and few leaked set photos have made their way online hyping fans about the small screen crossover involving Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, while DC's Legends of Tomorrow skips the upcoming event altogether.
Not much is known about plot details with regard to this year's Arrowverse crossover event, but it is expected to introduce fans to Ruby Rose as Kate Kane aka. Batwoman before she goes off on her own series. Jeremy Davies' Dr. John Deegan will play the special's primary antagonist and of course, the much-discussed persona swap between Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen/Flash (Grant Gustin) which is highlighted by one of the official promo poster for "Elseworlds." Despite its subtitle, the events of the crossover will fit into the established continuity.

Officially introduced in the sophomore season of the Melissa Benoist-led series, Hoechlin's upcoming "Elseworlds" appearance is his first since Supergirl season 2 finale. Previously revealed set images confirmed that he'll be wearing both classic red and blue suit, as well as its black variant. But new images from YVRShoots over at Twitter provides fans a better look at the infamous dark armor. Check out the images below:
It's difficult to gauge what exactly is happening in the scene that Hoechlin is filming considering that no other characters are featured in the images. Fans have seen him wearing the classic Superman outfit hanging out with Stephen Amell's Flash and Grant Gustin's Green Arrow, and judging by those images, it appears that he's more of a friend than an enemy to the role-reversed characters. But given the connotation that comes with Superman's black suit, it's safe to assume that this version of the character has nothing good to do in the world and must be stopped. The question is, what prompts him to assume an evil personality.
Admittedly, people are still divided on the Hoechlin's dark Superman suit (or with him playing the iconic DC hero in general). Loyal Arrowverse followers have grown accustomed to his version after he did a decent job in his initial stint in Supergirl. But with his involvement in DCTV significantly expanding via this year's "Elseworlds" event (even bringing Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, and maybe a look at DCTV's version of Kent family farm in the crossover), he's given the opportunity to put his own personal stamp on the character so that people can make a fair judgement regarding his portrayal.
