Rockstar Games has released information about the members of the Van der Linde gang as they will appear in Red Dead Redemption 2. Each member has a short bio, with some of their stories teasing the plot of the title.
In the first Red Dead Redemption, players visited the Wild West and took control of John Marston, a former member of the Van der Linde gang. In that game, Marston had to hunt down members of that gang to save his wife and son. In Red Dead Redemption 2, though, Marston is still a young man and active member of that gang since the new title is a prequel. So the second game will give players an idea of what life was like before the events of the first game, just as the Wild West began to become more lawful and civilized.

Rockstar Games recently released full details about each member of the Van der Linde gang, starting with gang leader Dutch Van der Linde. Dutch is "idealistic, anarchic, charismatic, well-read, well-lived, but possibly starting to unravel under the pressures of the encroaching modern world." Other characters include Marston and his son, con-artist Hosea Matthews, Molly O'Shea, camp boss Susan Grimshaw and "career criminal" Micah Bell. There are a total of 23 characters in all, each with descriptions that hint at Red Dead Redemption 2's story.
Rockstar also unveiled information about its plot to THR. Art director Josh Bass said:
"In Red Dead Redemption 2 you get to see that gang, including Marston, at the peak of their notoriety and at the very moment things begin to fall apart. This story focuses on Arthur Morgan, Dutch’s most trusted enforcer. Adopted into the gang by the Dutch when he was a young boy, Arthur considers the gang to be his family - Dutch has given his life some much‐needed purpose, and the gang has served as the one positive and constant in Arthur’s life."
Bass elaborated that the new title will show how things are changing in the Wild West and how the modern world will begin to creep in, forcing the gang to flee across the country. It will also focus on Dutch as he slowly starts to lose control over the group, leading up to the events players experienced in the first title.
Rockstar recently released the gameplay trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 that revealed the massive open world and rich setting that players will get to experience while playing the game. That trailer also showed off some impressively detailed graphics, as well as displayed game mechanics that go a lot deeper than those of the original title.
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26, and it is highly likely that it will be the best selling game of the year. This is a title that Red Dead Redemption fans have been impatiently waiting for, and with its launch just around the corner, players will be beating down the doors of retail stores to get their hands on a copy.
