Gwyneth Paltrow Is Back For Avengers 4 Reshoots

Gwyneth Paltrow is back on set for the ongoing reshoots for Avengers 4 reprising her role as Pepper Potts. Being one of the first actors to join the MCU, Paltrow has appeared in six films since she debuted the character in 2008's Iron Man. Starting as Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) trusted assistant, she developed a romantic relationship with her former boss and the pair has become one of the most enduring couples of the franchise. Following a short break as revealed in Captain America: Civil War, they eventually patched things up and got engaged as seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

When Avengers: Infinity War picked up, it seemed like the two were in a more stable place in their relationship. Sadly, even before fans got to catch up on how they're doing, Tony was whisked away by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) to deal with the imminent arrival of Thanos. By the end of the movie, Tony was stranded on Titan with Nebula (Karen Gillan) and was still reeling from their loss against the Mad Titan. But fans can expect that he'll eventually make his way back to Earth to reunite with Pepper.

Paltrow took to her official Instagram account to post a brand new photo of her, and while the image itself doesn't really say anything with regard to her being back on set for Avengers 4, it's her caption that gave away the information with hashtags such as "mcu" and "pepperony" (referring to Pepper and Tony). She also indirectly confirmed that Downey is also back to work as she posed in front of the actor's "base camp." Check out the image below:

Unlike most of Phase 1 characters whose fates are still up in the air after Avengers 4, there's a good chance that fans will still see Paltrow as Pepper in Spider-Man: Far From Home. A recent report about the Jon Watts-directed movie several days ago suggests her involvement in the sequel, while set photos confirm the return of Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan. What's unclear right now is what capacity in which they are involved in Peter Parker's forthcoming solo adventure considering it's been confirmed Tony will not appear in the sequel. Fans are taking this as an indication that the web-slinging hero's mentor might bite the dust in next year's ensemble film - something that has been heavily speculated for quite a while now given the character's personal arc, not to mention Downey's contract ending.

While the possibility of seeing more of Pepper after Avengers 4 thrilled everyone, fans are more interested to know how the events of Infinity War will affect her and her relationship with Tony. Her fiancé has been dealing with PTSD (as highlighted in Iron Man 3) for years after his near-death experience in The Avengers, and knowing that he has to continue living after his worst nightmare just come to fruition, not to mention the additional guilt of seeing Peter die on his watch, will surely change Tony. Before chaos ensued due to Thanos' arrival, the couple were busy planning their wedding, but with more pressing matters to attend to, it's curious whether or not the two will be even able to walk down the aisle.
