Mysterio revealed Spider-Man's secret identity in the comics as well - sort of. In the comics, few superheroes have guarded their secret identity to the degree of Spider-Man. Peter Parker has always been deeply concerned that his loved ones would pay the price should his enemies ever figure out who he really is.
That made the post-credits scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home all the more dramatic. The MCU's version of the Daily Bugle, an InfoWars-style website, used doctored footage to blame Spider-Man for the murder of Mysterio. J. Jonah Jameson then revealed Spider-Man's secret identity to the world, clearly an act of revenge planned either by Mysterio before his death, or by his henchmen. It was easily Marvel Studios' greatest gamble to date.
Surprisingly, there is a loose comic book precedent for this, because Mysterio once revealed Spider-Man's identity in the comics as well - after a fashion. In 1993's Spider-Man Unlimited#3, a freelance photographer scooped photos of the wallcrawler taking on a group of thugs. To the photographer's delight, during the scrap one of the criminals pulled Spider-Man's mask off, and he managed to get a photo. Needless to say, the next day Peter Parker was shocked to find this photograph in the Daily Bugle - mainly because he had no idea whose face was behind the mask.

"Spider-Man" unmasked himself before the world at a press conference the next day, telling the world to call him Phil. He was a charming and cheerful figure, and he soon had the press eating out of his hands. According to Phil, all the famous Spider-Man powers were actually due to high-tech equipment he had personally developed. But he was now determined to use his good name and his inventions to raise funds for a new non-profit organization, and he invited J. Jonah Jameson to sit on the board of directors. When the real Spider-Man confronted Phil, the gregarious newcomer was able to turn the public against him with ease. Of course, it was all a trick.
In reality, Phil was working for Mysterio, who was orchestrating a spectacular hoax; he figured he would make himself rich with a fake Spider-Man, and cash in on merchandise rights and a potential hit animated series. As ever, though, Mysterio had underestimated Spider-Man's own ingenuity, and the wall-crawler successfully tracked them down. He exposed the plot, and dealt with Phil with just a flick of his finger. While Mysterio would inevitably return, he never bothered to partner with Phil again.
